This paper reviews best practice in joint information delivery by agencies to the public during an emergency. It then reviews the use of a 'Joint Public Information Committee' as it was used within one community that was decimated by the Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria in 2009. This committee was comprised of a representative of any agency that was at work in the community and provided an effective forum for information delivery and community consultation in the recovery period of the disaster.
